God for Grown-Ups
With Ellen Debenport and Carla L. McClellan
April 1–3, 2011
“If I had one wish for the world, it would be that every adult re-examine his or her view of God at least once per decade. God may not change, but people do.”
—Rev. Ellen Debenport
Many of our ideas about God are formed at an early age. But what we think about God at age 6 doesn't serve us well at 60, much less at 16. As we grow and mature, so can our ideas.
A God for Grown-ups meets us where we are and welcomes our questioning, growing, changing and doubting. It also requires our participation as co-creators of our experiences. Indeed, rather than asking God for favors or protection, our “work” involves divine energy to build a heaven on earth.
This weekend retreat is an opportunity to contemplate your spiritual life and awareness of the divine within you—not just as an idea but as a way of life. Revs. Ellen Debenport and Carla McClellan will lead discussions about everyday spiritual principles and going beyond prayer by rote to achieve personally fulfilling experiences. The retreat also includes a panel of ministers and faculty talking about different views of the Law of Attraction and a review of Ellen's book, The Five Principles.
On this journey, you'll look to others and look within, explore and begin to understand your adult concepts of God, and discover more power to co-create your human experience than you ever knew.
