Myrtle and Charles on Healing and Wholeness - Part 1

Introduction

This course is based in the spiritual laws and universal principles that support the expression of health and wholeness in our minds, bodies and affairs. We will be working with Myrtle and Charles Fillmore's interpretation of how Jesus used and demonstrated those laws and principles in his own life.

The presentation of the laws and principles studied in this course, will support participants in developing a practical understanding of Myrtle and Charles theology as heart centered metaphysicians.  It is our expectation that through the development of such practical understanding, participants will be inspired to also become heart centered metaphysicians. We also expect them to develop a “tool kit” for using healing principles in their daily lives and in supporting other people in their own healing process.

There are three major topics in which the teachings will be based. Those three major topics are:

  • The Source of Healing,
  • The Consciousness of Healing
  • The Practice of Healing

Course Description:

The topics of this course will be presented by simultaneously reading, discussing or debriefing  the from the four text books.  For that reason, the course has been divided into two parts.  Part one will essentially work with The Source of Healing and the second part with the Consciousness and Practice of Healing. However all topics will be intertwined throughout the two classes.

Faculty will prepare a Learning Guide for each week's work. The Learning Guide will include comments about the topic to be studied during the week, as well as suggestions about what to look for in the assigned readings.

Along with this posting, faculty will initiate discussion threads by posting specific questions related to the week's topic of study. Students will be able to post responses to the discussion questions, respond to other students' postings, and present questions to the class. Faculty will respond as appropriate.

Questions of special interest to individual students will be answered by e-mail.

Learning Objectives
Throughout this course students will:

  • Analyze, interpret and explain the essential elements of Myrtle and Charles Fillmore's theology in developing their spiritual understanding and the Unity Movement.
  • Create a practical road map or “tool kit” for their spiritual journey.
  • Demonstrate how they are using the essential teachings of the Fillmore's in developing a spiritual consciousness that serves their spiritual purpose of helping and supporting the enhancement of the world consciousness.
  • Update their vocabulary regarding the concepts presented in the books of study.  They will use the updated vocabulary in the weekly posting discussions and in their individual assignments.  Faculty will make notations when this does not happen

The reading assignments will not be lengthy. However, the nature of the material requires careful reading and reflection. Reading about related topics in the recommended texts will enhance your understanding of the material but is not required.

Participate in Online Discussions
Several questions will be posted in the discussion forum each week. Students are asked to post a response to discussion questions and to respond to other students' postings as they feel inspired. You may answer as many questions (from the learning guide, as you wish for your own growth.

Periodic Online Exams
Final Paper

Choose at least one idea from the book or class and create a way to put it into practice. Practice it for at least 21 days. Write a 300- to 500-word paper based on your experience. In the paper, describe the idea, what happened, what you learned, and how this may affect your life. The due date will be assigned to those students actually taking the course.

Enriching the Experience

Prayer, Reflection and Journaling
As is the case with all SEE courses, evaluation for Finding Yourself in Transition will be based on a Credit/No Credit system. To successfully complete Finding Yourself in Transition, students must participate in each week's discussion forum and submit a final essay. A grade of "incomplete" will be assigned for any students who do not submit the required essay within two weeks of the close of the course and/or have not participated sufficiently in the Discussion Forum to receive credit for the course.

Each individual is expected to invest some time in prayer, reflection and journaling. The amount of time invested is certainly up to the individual and will therefore vary from person to person. However, these practices are essential to your understanding and realization of the truths. You will discover that this is your most fulfilling work during the course.
