Requirements for our webcam classes:
  1. A broadband (DSL, Cable, or Satellite) Internet connection. Please do not register for these classes if you use dial up for your Internet access. You will not have a good experience and the difficulties you experience will have some effect on other remote students as well.
  2. The ability to log on to the Internet and navigate to a URL. If you do not have experience with the Internet you will not want to make a webcam class your first adventure.
  3. A reasonably modern computer (nothing below a Pentium III, or something later than that, or an equivalently modern Mac) with a good sound system, decent speakers, and/or a good headset so that the student will be able to listen to the class effectively.
  4. Decent typing ability. Most of the time, students at home will be interacting through the chat window, so they'll need to be able to type well enough to communicate in that way.
  5. A webcam and microphone, plus a computer robust enough to support them. These will be necessary only if the student wishes to be able to make live presentations.
