Special New Thought Broadcasts
|
For the first time in history, 10 major New Thought organizations will join together to represent the New Thought movement at the world's largest interreligious gathering—the Parliament of the World's Religions (Parliament).
This year's event will be held in Melbourne, Australia, Dec. 3-9, 2009. By attending as a united movement, leaders plan to convey New Thought perspectives on many of the critical social and environmental issues being probed at this year's Parliament and to present a unified identity on the international stage.
Pre-Parliament New Thought Conference
Also new this year, the Association for Global New Thought has organized a one-day pre-Parliament New Thought Delegate Conference for New Thought leaders to exchange ideas and learn from each other. Promotional materials for the pre-Parliament event state, “The organizations within New Thought are evolving toward collaborative models that have not been possible in the past. We are also reaching out beyond our own spiritual community to form relationships with other faith communities and to be of practical service to the world at large. …It will be of great value to have time before (Parliament) begins to set our intentional collective field and establish the consciousness and purpose we bring to Melbourne as a unified movement.”
Rev. James Trapp, president and CEO of the Association of Unity Churches International, will represent Unity headquarters at both the New Thought Delegate event and the Parliament. The New Thought Delegation includes:
• The Association for Global New Thought (AGNT)
• The Association of Unity Churches International
• Unity School of Christianity
• Agape International Spiritual Center (Agape)
• Affiliated New Thought Network
• Hillside International Truth Center
• International New Thought Alliance
• Religious Science International
• United Centers for Spiritual Living
• Universal Foundation for Better Living
As part of the pre-Parliament event, Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith of Agape, who is also the president of AGNT, will lead a global meditation and blessing ceremony, which will be broadcast live on Unity's online radio network at www.unity.fm. (See the sidebar for the date and time of this meditation.)

The Parliament offers more than 450 activities including daily morning observances of many traditions, intrareligious and interreligious programs, models of engagement, symposia, performances, dialogue and exhibits.
