Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Salary Range: $13.96 – $18.13/hr.

JOB PROFILE: (Brief summary of responsibilities and requirements)
- Assists the Senior Benefits and Safety Generalist with implementation, administration, communications and record keeping of employee benefit plans.
- Provides support for the benefits and safety programs, compliance with federal and state regulations for benefit plans and coordination of enrollments and benefit discontinuations.

PREREQUISITES:
- Six years experience in Human Resources with two years directly relating to benefits or an associate degree with two years experience in benefits.
- Requires working knowledge of federal and state benefits and safety regulations including but not limited to Insurance Continuation, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA and OSHA.
- Must have exceptional customer service skills.
- Must be well-organized, detail-oriented and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. HRIS experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: (Functions essential to attaining job objectives)
- Coordinate and participate in annual Benefits Open Enrollment.
- Organize and conduct monthly employee benefit workshops and process enrollment.
- Review and maintain benefit materials including booklets, claim and enrollment materials.
- Maintain insurance benefit records for employees and retirees.
- Maintain benefit files to comply with record retention policy.
- Initiate correspondence relating to continuation coverage for employees who are terminating or retiring.
- Maintain day-to-day HIPAA Program.
- Responsible for Medicare compliance.
- Responsible for the Medicare Data Match and Medicare inquires.
- Act as a representative for Unity to insurance carriers and as a participant on internal selection committee.
- Review contracts and supporting documents for accuracy and input.
- Monitor drug and alcohol test results, follow-up as needed and advise proper individual of outcome.
- Process billing related to drug tests and miscellaneous occupational health provider invoices.
- FMLA contact person and coordinator.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: (Functions specific to an individual position)
- Prepare and distribute Benefit Confirmation and Summary reports for employees.
- Process LTD and life insurance claims.
- Responsible for assisting with resolution of billing discrepancies within Benefits.
- Set up of annual Hearing Conservation testing and backup safety as needed.
- Follow-up to worker comp. injuries including authorizing care facilities, drug testing, communication/correspondence with affected employee (family members), their dept./supervisor, medical facility(ies), Security and insurance carrier as needed.
- Back up sr. HR generalist.
