Your Life Is Not Random

This is an excerpt from the book Understanding Your Soul: The Channeled Wisdom of Jesus (Unity Books, 2025), in which channeler Christine M. Bush brings forth teachings from Jesus about the role our souls play in designing our lives. What follows are Jesus’ words in the introduction to the book as channeled by Bush.

Do you know who you truly are? You have been told that you are a spiritual being temporarily residing in a physical body. But do you fully comprehend what this means? What is a spiritual being? What is a spiritual entity? Has this ever been fully explained?

It is difficult, when you are incarnated into a physical body, to be able to understand the spiritual. Your lives are filled with physical responsibilities, relationships, and duties. These can consume your energy and your attention. This is a normal and even necessary part of your existence. You have incarnated into your current life for a reason. You have lessons to be learned and lessons to teach. Your spirit has decided to expand its energy by facing the challenges of your physical life. Everything that comes before you has a purpose. Everything that comes before you offers the opportunity to expand your energy or to contract it. All that you do exists for this purpose.

You may ask, “How do I expand my energy?” There is a simple answer to this: love. Love is the only thing that matters. Love will conquer all. When you approach your life from a place of love, kindness, and inclusion, then peace and joy follow. When you approach your life from a place of love, all that follows will expand your spiritual energy. When you allow fear, judgment, anger, or hatred to enter your life, your energy will contract and your life’s purpose will be unfulfilled.

Finding Your Purpose

Let us speak for a moment about your life’s purpose. Each of you chose a very specific life when you incarnated into your world. Each of you chose those individuals who would be closest to you in that lifetime. Each of you chose which lessons you wanted to learn and which experiences you would face in order to learn them. Your life is not random. Things do not occur without a purpose. Individuals do not come into your life for meaningless relationships. Your world, your life, is a classroom for your soul. Your world, your life, determines the path of your soul. It is important to be aware of this. It is important to carry this knowledge with you as you face the struggles of your daily life, as you interact with the individuals around you. For when you have this knowledge, you can understand the importance of making the right choices, of always acting from a place of love …

Know that your soul, your spirit, is eternal. Know that it existed far before this current life and will continue to exist after. Know that your soul is pure energy. It has no physical substance. It cannot be seen. It can only be felt. It takes practice, awareness, and trust to feel what your soul is telling you. Your soul does not speak through your conscious mind. Your conscious mind is wonderful at processing and interpreting your physical reality, but it is incapable of fully understanding spiritual reality.

The Essence of Your Soul

Our purpose in this book is to give you a better understanding of the essence of your soul: What it is, what it is trying to do, how it advances. We will attempt to explain it in terms that your conscious mind can comprehend. It is important for you to know that we are giving you this information now because your world is transforming. You need to transform beyond merely your physical awareness to a spiritual awareness or else you will be left behind. Now is the time to understand how your spirit and your body interconnect.

This information is coming to you with great love and gratitude. For you are the ones who have volunteered to be on that earth to usher in the new reality. It is not an easy task that you have undertaken. The changes in your world are immense. Tremendous energy shifts are occurring. Energy shifts of this magnitude can cause chaos and disorder. Energy shifts of this magnitude bring negative energies to the surface to be addressed. Much that has lain dormant for centuries is now activated.

There is much work for each of you to do to facilitate this shift. Nothing is as it was. Nothing is yet as it will be.

It may appear that the recent shifts have caused negative emotions like hatred, fear, anger, and judgment to become more prevalent … But these are not new emotions. They have merely been hidden under the surface. It is necessary for them to become visible for them to be eradicated.

You are being challenged to live a spiritual life in the face of physical chaos. How brave your soul is to have agreed to be part of this transition. How brave your soul is to have agreed to show love in the midst of such chaos. For that is exactly what you are called to do. You are called by your own soul. Will you answer this call?
