"I became its servant according to God's commission that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery that has been hidden throughout the ages and generations but has now been revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. It is he whom we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone in all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ" (Colossians 1:25-28).

Comment:

This ringing affirmation of the Christ is truly one of the most important in the entire Bible in terms of clearly understanding the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. The Christ is "the mystery that has been hidden through the ages and generations." It is the Presence of the divine in each of us. It is not unique to Jesus—it is not simply believing in the Christ of Jesus that is "the hope of glory." It is "Christ in you"—Christ as the true spiritual identity of each of us. Jesus became the Christ in full expression—but not to make himself special or unique. He became the Christ and challenges us to do the same. "What I have done, you will do" he says (John 14:12). And Paul affirms the same truth here. (In the terminology of the early church, "saints" referred to all those who believed.) Jesus Christ opened the door and revealed the mystery. It is for us to carry his work forward.   Blessings!
