Comment:

I don't think Unity ever claims to be the definitive authority on what any part of the Bible means. I certainly don't make that claim. So I'm not comfortable with deciding that the author of 1 Peter is "misinterpreting" Jesus' death. I have no problem with the words he wrote, although I understand them in a way that is likely different from what he intended. The metaphysical energy of universal spiritual principle works through us as long as we remain a willing channel. It doesn't matter whether our human consciousness agrees with—or even understands—what Spirit is saying through us. Many writers—and ministers, for that matter—are sometimes astonished to find that spiritual truth has expressed through their work in ways they did not consciously intend.   Blessings!
